In North Center, Chicago, Stephen Young Design undertook the transformation of a historic single-family residence, preserving its architectural grandeur while introducing a vibrant, modern touch. Inspired by the stained-glass window above the front door, a custom color palette was developed to breathe new life into the traditional architecture. This thoughtful approach highlighted the home’s original charm while adding a sense of energy and vitality to the space. The design honored the history of the house but looked forward, blending past and present seamlessly.

The design placed a strong emphasis on family living, creating spaces that are both functional and visually engaging. A playful aesthetic, paired with carefully curated furnishings, gave the home personality and warmth. Each room was designed to tell the story of the family who lives there, with furniture and decor chosen for both style and purpose. The result was a home that not only respects its historical roots but also offers a modern, lively environment for family gatherings and daily life.
